About the Journal

The academic journal TongDao "同道", translated as "The Same Path", constitutes an interdisciplinary academic platform focused on the critical examination of contemporary China. Its title encapsulates the spirit of collaboration and convergence of diverse disciplines toward a comprehensive understanding of the complex sociopolitical, economic, and cultural phenomena that characterize China in the current era. This interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to addressing the multifaceted Chinese realities, allowing for a richer and more nuanced understanding that transcends the limits of conventional analyses.

MISSION & VISION

TongDao advocates for the correct, sustained and solid conformation of a team that satisfies the academic and technical requirements necessary for the legitimacy of the knowledge disseminated and the construction of a scholarly reference for the encounter of Sino-Latin American and Caribbean studies, that summons and stimulates the production of knowledge from the exchange, transparent reflection and constant stimulus for the generation of academic research with impact on the generation of public policy and political, historical and social awareness.

  1. Organized and specialized dissemination. We advocate the construction of an institutional framework that provides continuity, organization and specialization for the study of Sino-Latin American and Caribbean relations, as it strengthens scientific dissemination, broadens the audience for the materials and takes advantage of a series of resources and technological supports that ensure open access and academic rigor.
  2. Encouragement in the innovative study of the realities confronted. TongDao functions as an expositor of Sino-Latin American and Caribbean relations, and as a space for theoretical and methodological reflection for the study of social phenomena, contributing extensively to the construction and renewal of knowledge in the Social Sciences.

  3. Building a bridging institution. TongDao is an institution that invites scientific curiosity, the development of political awareness and the creation of an expert, specialized, open-access niche with an (inter)national and interdisciplinary approach.
